The Hinsdale Public Library’s art initiatives are designed to fulfill goals in HPL’s strategic plan, by showcasing art from diverse talents that will engage the public and complement the library’s space.
The Hinsdale Public Library Art Advisory Commission organizes and presents exhibits of the work of Chicago-area artists, with special consideration given to artists connected to the Hinsdale community or whose work has particular interest to the community.
Exhibits are typically presented quarterly and extend for 1–3 months. Exhibit space is generally limited to the wall and column space of HPL’s “Quiet Room” on the main floor.
The Art Advisory Commission considers a variety of criteria when selecting artists for temporary exhibits including, but not limited to:
- Quality of work
- Appropriateness to the space
- Alignment with other library initiatives
- Anticipated interest from the public
- Relationship of style, format, and content to other recent exhibits
If you are interested in exhibiting at the Hinsdale Public Library, please submit this application, along with the specified supplementary materials, to Martha Kennedy, HPL Patron Services Manager, at mkennedy@hinsdalelibrary.info.
The Art Advisory Commission will consider an application at its next meeting and you will be contacted shortly thereafter.
