Position Available:
Youth & Young Adult Services Librarian
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Daytime, evening, and weekend hours required, exact schedule to be determined.
Salary/Benefits: $23-28/hour DOQ
The Hinsdale Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, service-oriented Youth and Young Adult Services Librarian to fill a full-time position.
Qualified candidates will enjoy interacting with children and their families, have excellent communication and customer service skills, appreciate children’s literature, and work well in a team environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement storytimes and programs of interest to the community, with a focus on preschool, kindergarten, and outreach
- Provide reference and readers’ advisory assistance
- Participate in the collection development process by maintaining, selecting, and weeding materials in assigned areas
- Keep current on age-appropriate materials for youth
- Participate in Library special events
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred; current enrollment in a Library Science Master’s program or a Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated equivalent experience will be considered
- Experience working with children required
- Knowledge of children’s and YA literature and library programming preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexible team player
