As fall turns to winter and the days grow shorter and colder, it is the perfect time to grab some popcorn, a warm blanket, and snuggle up with a good . . . movie! Whether you prefer DVD, Blu-Ray or streaming, you will find what you need at the Hinsdale Public Library.
Flix Pix
The latest additions to our collection are binge-worthy packs of 6 or more movies that share a common theme. We curated these movie packs guaranteed to keep you entertained all weekend long. Iron Man, Thor, and Black Panther are just a few of the headliners in our Marvel Flix Pix. If Rom Com is more to your liking, When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, and There’s Something About Mary are bundled with other similar favorites. We also have a Flix Pix pack of the Harry Potter series, Football Favorites, Musicals, Grab a Tissue, Chills and Thrills, John Hughes and Friends, and Holiday Favorites. DVD and Blu-Ray
Did you miss Crazy Rich Asians or Mission: Impossible – Fallout in the theater? Are you hooked on Poldark and waiting for the newest season? The Library has you covered! Our comprehensive collection of DVDs and Blu-Rays includes the latest releases as well as thousands of other movies and TV shows from the hottest blockbusters to classic favorites. Our newest releases checkout for one week, and all other videos for three weeks.
Streaming
We also offer Kanopy and Hoopla for streaming videos for on-demand viewing. Kanopy provides access to more than 30,000 independent and documentary films, including titles from the Criterion Collection and Great Courses. On Kanopy, you can watch critically acclaimed movies like My Friend Dahmer, Loving Vincent, and the classic Charade, as well as fascinating documentaries on just about any topic imaginable. Kanopy Kids features PBS favorites like Arthur and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and kid-friendly films plus fun, educational content about history, food, and science. Kanopy is easy to access through apps on your Apple and Android devices, Google Play, or Roku.
Hoopla is another option for streaming movies at home or on the road using your Hinsdale library card. Hoopla is easy to use and offers a large collection of movies for both adults and kids. Movies ranging from No Country for Old Men to Emma are conveniently accessible through the Hoopla app whenever you are connected to WiFi. You will even find many holiday themed movies to enjoy throughout the season. The Hoopla app is available on Apple and Android devices, Google Play, Roku and Amazon Fire devices.
Once you’ve downloaded these apps, you will need to enter your Hinsdale Public Library Card number to get started watching.
