Hinsdale Public Library Spruces Up Technology Offerings
Spring cleaning is a time to reassess what you have and refresh what you need. The Library recently reexamined our own technology offerings. Our new collection is designed to help you explore, connect with, and create. All of these items are available to Hinsdale cardholders and can be checked out on an adult card for three weeks.
Kindle Oasis — A fresh version of the Kindle, ours are pre-loaded with best sellers and book club favorites. These new eReaders are ultra-lightweight and have an extra-long battery life so you can finish that book by the pool or on the road without worry. (These devices are part of the Mary Healy Bartecki Memorial eBook Collection.)
Beacon Mobile Hotspot – Our hot spots work anywhere in the continental U.S., are rechargeable, and easily tuck into a backpack or carry-on bag. You can connect up to ten devices, so just one will cover the entire family. These devices use 3G or 4G networks, based on what coverage is available in your area. (One patron told us they used it while they were moving and in-between Internet providers.)
Roku — The Roku stick is pre-loaded with over 50 movies. From classics and family friendly selections to some of today’s hottest picks, you’re sure to find something to please. Plug it into your television or laptop and enjoy.
Epson VS 250 projector — Whether you’re presenting to a client, hosting a back-yard movie night, or want a really big display for the really big game, our projector can help. Easy to hook up, you will be able to project a crisp, clear image from your device, even in daylight.
Microphone — Create your own podcast or record your own music with this Blue Snowball Ice Mic. Our omni-directional microphone connects in seconds and will help you create professional quality sound recordings.
Laptops — Our Windows-based laptops are preloaded with Microsoft Office Suite and are perfect for business trips or vacation.
Technology Curiosity Kits — Build a robot, create a circuit, or learn to code. Our kid-focused kits contain everything you need to learn new skills or deepen your understanding of a particular topic.
Portable DVD and CD players — Take your music or movies on the go! Both our DVD and CD players have built-in speakers and have long charge times.
We also have an App — Available from both the Apple and Google Play stores, our App makes it easy to search for items, place them on hold, check your account, register for events, and much more. Search “Hinsdale Public Library” in your app store and download for free.
